The refreshed Chase Aeroplan card takes 15% off Aeroplan award redemptions. Partner segments count — but only if the one-way includes at least one Air Canada flight.

Aeroplan card offers 15% off Award Flights

75,000 Aeroplan points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months (elevated 85,000-point offer may be available)
Chase refreshed the Air Canada Aeroplan credit card on September 10, 2026, and buried in the announcement is the benefit that fundamentally changes how you should book: 15% off eligible Aeroplan flight awards. A 100,000-point itinerary drops to 85,000 with no coupons, no promo codes, and no annual cap on redemptions.
The card’s annual fee jumps from $95 to $195. Whether that hike pays off hinges almost entirely on a crucial distinction the initial rollout obscured—and that Aeroplan has since clarified.
Chase’s initial terms cited "Air Canada flight redemptions," leading many to believe the discount applied strictly to Air Canada metal. That restriction would have severely limited the card's real-world value, as Aeroplan’s highest-yield sweet spots often route through Star Alliance partners like Lufthansa, Swiss, ANA, or United.
An Aeroplan spokesperson clarified the policy:
The 15% discount applies to any one-way itinerary as long as it includes at least one Air Canada-operated flight. The only exclusions are itineraries operated entirely by partner airlines.
If an itinerary pairs a short Air Canada connecting hop with a 10-hour partner long-haul flight in business class, the entire one-way booking qualifies for 15% off.
The discount is evaluated direction by direction, not per round-trip reservation.
Consider an example:
The Result: The outbound includes an Air Canada segment and receives the 15% discount. The return is entirely partner metal, so it prices at full award rates. You get the discount on exactly half your trip.
Adding an Air Canada connection through Montreal or Toronto on the return journey unlocks the discount for both directions. On a 140,000-point round-trip business class redemption, routing through Canada saves an extra 10,500 points. This turns a one-stop connection into a deliberate financial calculation rather than just an itinerary compromise.
