“Booked a room at Sunset Tower Hotel for my mom while she was visiting. It’s undeniably charming. The historic details are beautiful, the property has real character, and the staff was consistently kind and welcoming. That said, it’s worth knowing what you’re signing up for. This is a genuinely old historic property, and that comes with tradeoffs. The rooms are very small, noticeably smaller than a typical modern luxury hotel room. The first room we were given overlooked a rooftop with what seemed to be heavy mechanical equipment (likely kitchen or building systems), and it was extremely loud. ” — Michael Meo

The hotel itself, the rooms, the style, the service, the amenities, the bars and restaurants, and the overall vibe are difficult to describe without experiencing it firsthand. “The Chateau was full due to the Grammys, so we checked in across the street—what a lucky find! Very personable yet stylish, with a great balance of renovation and preservation. Excellent mixology, and an even better breakfast (served until 11). Valet parking was seamless, and the pool was perfect. We’ll definitely be back ASAP.” — Jack Gustafsson
