The Kahala Hotel & Resort Yokohama

“Amex FHR benefits: Don’t waste your time here, it’s one of the most annoying 5 star hotels I’ve ever experienced, you are better off booking a modern hotel. Good things The staff is lovely and kind and went out of their way to help you. The cocktails in the bar were fantastic, the bartender is great. We didn’t try the other restaurants but expect them to be a minimum of 10k each for a simple meal. The bad stuff 1. They don’t mention all the extra charges you incur, the bar had 1k fee to sit there (even as a hotel resident), 15% service charge (only place in Japan I’ve seen do this) and the spa” — Thabi

“Only spent one night at this hotel but it was very nice. We landed at Hadena early evening and were heading to Kyoto the following day. Instead of paying higher rates in Tokyo we opted for Yokohama where room prices are much cheaper and can still access the Shinkansen line easily. Room was generous in size and all the staff very welcoming and friendly. Bathroom was excellent and was stocked with all the amenities you need. Lobby is also very pretty. “This is by far the best hotel and resort I’ve ever been staying over 2 days. Love the combination of the two. Didn’t have to travel outside of the facility much. There are plenty of activities to enjoy at the facility being an Amex customer. The spa was great, and the amenities were phenomenal. Love their modern and hi-tech hair dryer and kettle. Did not see high quality appliances in other 5-star hotels. Impressive and greatly curated Japanese breakfast at HANAGOYOMI. The meal and service was above and beyond.” — Phuong Tran
