“My husband and I stayed at The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui for our honeymoon, with high expectations given the Ritz brand and our consistently pleasant experiences at other Marriott properties, including W Bangkok. From pick-up at Nathon Pier through check-in, the service was seamless and attentive. We were accommodated in a room with a partial ocean view, and we appreciated the effort to acknowledge our honeymoon with welcome amenities. “The Ritz Carlton in Samui was unfortunately a huge disappointment that did not feel luxurious in any way. We were supposed to stay for 7 nights, but ended up moving hotels after 1 night. The main disappointments were the beach, pool and restaurants which is where we would be spending most of our time as we were travelling with a baby. The common areas generally felt quite worn down and a little tacky. Nothing like what you would expect from a 5 star hotel, and absolutely nothing like what you would expect from the Ritz. As expected from a well-established luxury brand, the level of service throughout the stay was exceptional.
