“This has been by far my worst experience with St. Regis, and it fell well below any reasonable 5-star hotel standard. We booked through Amex Platinum Fine Hotels & Resorts. At check-in, the staff did explain the FHR benefits, including the USD 100 property credit, and mentioned that a complimentary upgrade was not available due to the New Year holiday. While I understand upgrades are subject to availability, the overall welcome felt transactional, with no acknowledgment of Marriott Bonvoy status and none of the warmth or polish one would expect from a St. Regis arrival.
