“My wife and I stayed at El Mangroove from Feb 16–24 for our honeymoon and honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better first experience in Costa Rica! The staff’s hospitality was incredible from the moment we walked in until we had to leave (and we wish we could stay forever!). Everyone on staff goes above and beyond. Shoutouts to everyone below! The food at Malu, Matiss, and Makoko were all amazing and very well priced. Housekeeping had our room looking spotless and organized every single day, which was greatly appreciated. “Great hotel with lots of positives but just enough negatives to do to 4 stars. First off the good and drink service just sucks. Of all the places we stayed, this has the worst food and it cost an arm and a leg. The breakfast buffet just wasn't great. Fresh fruit in Costa Rica your think? Nah it's in a jar that was packaged a few days ago. Things were dried out, and didn't seem all that fresh. Stayed at places a third the price and had a better spread. “Recently stayed at the hotel and I do not believe it lived up to a 5 star rating it claims. The pool and location were as expected. The rooms, however, smelled like there was a sewage leak. We had to be moved multiple times due to the smell and health concern. We also had issues with the air conditioning. The hotel would send people to “fix” the issue but it was never fixed. Maybe in a couple years when they can hammer out the details it would be a more pleasant stay but for now I would not recommend it.” — Reagan Armstrong
