“Zero Empathy When It Mattered Most I stayed at the Hyatt Grand Vail while attending a conference and the way this property handled a legitimate family emergency was unbelievably cold and unprofessional. I had a family emergency come up and needed to check out one day early. Around 10:30 in the morning, I went to the front desk and explained the situation. The front desk agent told me it should not be a problem to check out early and that the fee could likely be waived. She said she just needed to confirm with her supervisor. “Disappointing stay at the Grand Hyatt Vail. I’m a globalist, which was not acknowledged. No upgrade… I had a tired room that was very overdue for a refresh, with a view of a wall, when other people had wonderful views. The shower had a loose tile and visible mold. There was also a loud knocking noise starting at 6:30 AM on my day of departure that went on for about 15 minutes. Not sure what it was. They said they could only accommodate a checkout until 1pm despite my Globalist status, even thought the hotel did not appear to be full. “Nice area but very disappointed with this stay especially for the price. I would recommend going to one of the cheaper properties nearby. The pictures are of the “balcony” room I received. It looked directly at a building and was more of a shared space with other rooms. It was covered in mud and animal droppings, I notified the front desk twice to hopefully at least get it swept, and it never got completed during my stay. The room was ok but did not include a simple bar of soap, I had to request a bar and it took nearly an hour to receive it. Pool bar was very understaffed with only one person” — Douglas Brown
