“I would say it’s a 2 star service Shangri-la hotel. My luggages were only sent to the hallway door and he said he needed to stop there. I had to drag my luggages on the rough hallway carpet in a difficult way by myself to my room. Not a 5-star hotel service at all. I luckily had only two luggages, what if I had three? “I fortunately stayed at The PuXuan Hotel and Spa over a two-day business trip to the capital city. Check-in was very smooth, and I loved the quiet, understated feel throughout the property. “I only came in for a coffee in the lobby. The service in the lobby bar was very good and the drinks were excellent. We had some appetizers that were also excellent. My concern is there were a lot of influencers taking photographs of themselves in the lobby. It definitely didn't feel like an exclusive environment if you were a guest. “Extremely Disappointing Stay at Conrad Beijing As a loyal Hilton member who frequently stays at Hilton properties around the world, I expected far more from a 5-star Conrad hotel. “While it's no longer an Aman, this still is one of the best hotels in Beijing. To start, you get a dedicated access to the Summer Palace via a "secret" door in the hotel. Perfect for going early to run the grounds before the crowds show up. The staff are excellent and take care of everything. The room we stayed in was part of the original Summer Palace so there's a lot of history right in your own room! Finally, the food is, as expected, excellent. “Our stay at the Grand Hyatt Beijing was extremely disappointing and fell well below the standard we expected from a Hyatt property. Prior to our arrival, we contacted the hotel and made two simple requests due to travelling with two young children after an 18-hour journey. “The Ritz-Carlton, Beijing does not hold up to the name of the Ritz-Carlton branding, and is far from what a true 5-star hotel should deliver. Of the 5 nights we stayed in the property, there were several experiences that made us reconsider our choice of staying here.
